Nepali MMA fighter Koshish Shrestha to represent Delhi in India’s International Fight League – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper
KATHMANDU, JUNE 19
Nepali mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Koshish Shrestha will represent the Delhi franchise in India’s International Fight League (IFL), becoming one of the few Nepali athletes to compete in the country’s first professional team-based MMA league.
Shrestha, nicknamed “The Unstoppable”, will face Mumbai’s Prachand Jamliya in a lightweight preliminary bout at IFL 2, scheduled for Saturday at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi.
The 5-foot-9 lightweight fighter currently holds an unbeaten professional record of 1-0, while his opponent Jamliya is making his professional debut after compiling a 14-4 amateur record.
The Indian Fighting League, modelled on franchise-based competitions such as the Indian Premier League and Pro Kabaddi League, features six city-based teams and 72 fighters competing across multiple weight classes. Teams earn points based on individual bout results and compete for the league championship.
A major boost for the promotion came through its partnership with UFC Fight Pass, the world’s leading combat sports streaming platform, allowing IFL events to be broadcast in more than 200 countries.
Shrestha’s inclusion in the Delhi team marks another milestone for Nepali MMA, reflecting the growing presence of Nepali fighters on international combat sports platforms. His appearance is expected to provide valuable global exposure for both the athlete and Nepal’s emerging MMA scene.
The IFL plans to stage six major events in 2026 as it seeks to establish a sustainable and internationally recognised professional MMA ecosystem in South Asia.
