Airbus symposium in Kathmandu promotes helicopter safety culture – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper
KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 2
More than 100 aviation professionals gathered in Kathmandu for an Airbus Helicopters symposium focused on “Safety and Support & Services,” aimed at strengthening operational safety and best practices in Nepal’s rotorcraft sector.
Organized with the support of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the event brought together regulators, operators, and safety experts to discuss accident prevention, data-driven safety systems, and decision-making in high-stress environments.
The symposium was inaugurated by French Ambassador to Nepal Virginie Corteval and CAAN Director General Pradeep Adhikari. Senior Airbus officials, including Florence Verlut, Head of Aviation Safety and Quality, and Sunny Guglani, Head of Airbus Helicopters South Asia, also addressed the event.
“At Airbus, safety is not a static goal but a mindset that evolves through knowledge sharing and continuous improvement,” said Verlut.
Technical sessions covered global safety statistics, flight data monitoring, maintenance practices, and aerial operations. The symposium concluded with a forward-looking discussion on Airbus’ roadmap for enhancing reliability and maintenance.
