Over 30,000 foreign tourists visit Annapurna region in Asoj – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper
Arrival slightly down from last year amid protests and weather disruptions
KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 26
More than 30,000 foreign tourists visited the Annapurna region between September 17 and October 17 (Asoj month), according to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).
A total of 30,547 foreign visitors were recorded during the period – 10,019 from South Asian countries and 20,528 from other nations, ACAP said.
According to the project there was a slight decline in tourists arrival compared to the same month last year, likely due to weather disruptions and the Gen-Z protest demonstrations in September, which affected travel movement.
The project further added that Asoj and Kartik remain the peak months for trekking in the Annapurna region, with arrivals expected to rise in Kartik (October 18–November 16) as the post-Tihar season attracts both domestic and international trekkers.
Last Kartik, the region welcomed 33,310 foreign visitors. The Annapurna Conservation Area, spanning 7,600 square kilometres across 87 wards in Kaski, Lamjung, Manang, Myagdi, and Mustang, remains one of the world’s most popular trekking destinations.
