KATHMANDU, APRIL 25
Nepali artist Amrit Karki is set to present a newly commissioned work at the 2026 sā Ladakh Biennale, scheduled from August 1 to 10 in India.
Karki will be among 24 participating artists and is the first Nepali artist to be featured in the international event.
The project is supported by the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art as part of a five-year partnership with the biennale aimed at promoting contemporary Himalayan art.
Karki, a visual and performing artist based in Pokhara, will develop his work following a residency in Ladakh, engaging with the region’s cultural and environmental landscape.
The biennale, held at an altitude of over 3,000 metres along the Leh-Kargil corridor, focuses on themes of climate, culture and community, promoting environmentally sustainable artistic practices.
