LG launches Essential Series in Nepal, built around local households – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper

KATHMANDU, JULY 2

LG Electronics Singapore, together with its long-time local partner CG Electronics, has launched the Essential Series, a new lineup of home appliances designed around Nepali consumer needs. The launch event took place at Vivanta Kathmandu on June 16, 2026, bringing together company leadership, partners, and media.

The series falls under LG’s “Harek Gharko Khushi, Ghar-Gharma LG” campaign, which translates roughly to happiness in every home, LG in every home.

The lineup includes a double-door refrigerator, a fully automatic top-load washing machine, and a room air conditioner, each built with local conditions in mind, from dust and humidity to inconsistent water pressure and high electricity costs.

All three products will be available nationwide starting this June, through authorized LG Brand Shops, multi-brand retailers, and major e-commerce platforms across the country.

The launch also underscores LG’s long relationship with CG Electronics, which has been the authorized distributor of LG products in Nepal for over 40 years. “The LG Essential Series marks a new chapter in our commitment to Nepali consumers, following the successful launch of the kW Manager Dual Cool Residential Air Conditioner,” said Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of Chaudhary Group.

Changho Han, Product Director for Home Appliance Solutions at LG Electronics Singapore, echoed that sentiment, noting that the series was shaped by direct input from the market. “Designed from the ground up with insights from thousands of households, this series brings together premium design and everyday reliability. It addresses the real needs of Nepali families with appliances built for local conditions, enhancing convenience and enriching daily life. With this launch, LG is making Life’s Good more accessible, turning aspirations into reality across Nepal.”

Han also talked about what keeps bringing him back to Nepal. “The food is very nice, and the weather and the whole atmosphere is quite good,” he said. “That’s why I’m continuously coming to Nepal.” On this particular trip, he was direct about the purpose. “This time, the Essential Series is launching,” he said, calling it the central focus of the visit and part of a longer-term plan for the company in the region.

When asked about LG’s broader strategy for the Nepalese market, Han pointed to accessibility and innovation. “Every consumer’s household has to be using the LG product,” he said, adding that the company’s future plans center on building customer understanding while continuing to push forward on technology, particularly AI. On standing out in a crowded market, he credited consistent innovation. “We always continuously develop innovations, so we have to make the differentiation with the competitors,” he explained. “We’re leading with AI, using AI in our products, and making different features that will be reflected soon.” He also pointed to LG’s mobile app (LG ThinQ) ecosystem as a key part of that push. “We have to cover all LG AI homes through mobile phones. Making an AI home is our target.”

On how Nepal compares to other markets, Han noted that while it shares some traits with neighboring countries, Nepali consumers have their own distinct expectations. “Nepalese are very trendy and very fast moving,” he said. “They want nice features and innovative things that are easy to use, with a focus on convenience.” That insight, he added, is shaping LG’s upcoming product plans for the country.

On the CG partnership, Han didn’t hesitate. “We have a good relationship for 40 years. I trust that CG is a very nice partner,” he said, explaining that it helps LG understand local customers more deeply and respond to their needs faster. “This relationship creates a synergy about customer understanding. Our direction is very fast in reflecting on the customer side. This is something only CG can do.”

Asked about challenges in the Nepalese market, Han pointed to energy efficiency as a key focus, citing the water-saving features in the washing machines and energy-saving design in the refrigerators as direct responses. Closing things out, he kept his message simple. “I think the Essential Series is the first launch, and we can make this the first appliance in every household,” he said. “After that, hopefully every Nepali person will understand LG’s good innovation, and they’ll love LG too.”

With the Essential Series, LG and CG Electronics are betting that good design and reliable performance don’t need to come at a premium price. Whether that bet pays off will become clearer as the lineup reaches stores across Nepal this June, but given the two companies’ four-decade track record together, it’s a partnership built to last.
