KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 17

The government has utilized only 9.17 percent of the Rs 1.96 trillion national budget in the first two months of the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025–26), the Office of the Comptroller General reported.

By mid-September, total expenditure reached Rs 180.18 billion:

– Current spending: Rs 114.18 billion (9.67 % of the annual Rs 1.18 trillion allocation)

– Capital spending: Rs 6.35 billion (1.56 % of the Rs 407.88 billion allocation)

– Financial management: Rs 59.63 billion (15.89 % of the Rs 375.24 billion allocation)

Revenue collection stands at 10.43 % of the yearly target of Rs 1.53 trillion. Of this, tax revenue reached Rs 150.40 billion (11.35 % of the Rs 1.32 trillion goal) and non-tax revenue Rs 7.13 billion (4.62 % of the Rs 154.41 billion target).

Foreign grant inflows remain low, with just Rs 1.27 billion, or 2.38 % of the Rs 53.44 billion target, received so far.
