27 individuals detained; Rs 3.37 million and weapons seized in security sweep

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 10

The Nepali Army has announced fresh security updates following the nationwide deployment of forces in response to ongoing Gen Z–led protests and unrest.

According to the Army, 27 people were arrested between 10 PM on Tuesday and 10 AM Wednesday for engaging in looting, arson, and other destructive and anarchic activities across different parts of the country, including Kathmandu.

Security forces also deployed three fire engines to contain blazes started during the protests. In the Gausala–Chabahil–Bouddha area of Kathmandu, looted cash amounting to Rs 3.37 million was recovered from suspects.

Additionally, a significant cache of weapons was seized: 31 firearms of various types, along with magazines and ammunition, were confiscated from different parts of Kathmandu (23) and Pokhara (8).

The Army further confirmed that 23 Nepal Police personnel and three civilians injured during clashes are currently receiving treatment at military hospitals.

The statement reiterated that the Army and other security agencies remain actively mobilized nationwide to prevent further violence and safeguard lives and property.
