Apple just dropped the iPhone Air, and it’s surprisingly getting positive reactions compared to last year’s iPhone 16e (although the iPhone Air is not the successor of 16e), which was a unanimous flop. The phone in aspects other than thickness and lightness also looks quite good. Now, let’s dive into this article, which will discuss everything about the latest iPhone Air, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

iPhone Air Overview

Design and Build Quality

At 5.6mm thick and weighing just 165g, the iPhone Air is Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever. The company’s clearly betting big on the ultra-thin form factor, banking on the “wow” factor, which most phones have failed to deliver in recent times. The grade 5 titanium frame gets a high-gloss mirror finish, and there’s this new “plateau” design on the back that houses the cameras, speaker, and chips while maximizing battery space.

The titanium construction uses grade 5 material, which is supposedly stronger and more premium than the aerospace aluminum in the regular iPhone 17.  For the first time, Ceramic Shield protects both the front and back of an iPhone. The front gets Ceramic Shield 2 with 3x better scratch resistance, while the back Ceramic Shield offers 4x better crack resistance than previous glass backs.  Similarly, the Action Button and Camera Control are still both present. Meanwhile, Apple’s also ditching physical SIM slots entirely to save internal space.

Display

The 6.5-inch LTPO display is bigger than the regular iPhone 17. Apple’s using LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED with ProMotion up to 120Hz, 3000 nits peak brightness, and that Always-On display that adjusts down to 1Hz when not in use.

Performance and Chipset Strategy

Regarding performance, the iPhone Air packs the A19 Pro instead of the regular A19 in the standard iPhone 17. The A19 Pro brings a 6-core CPU that Apple claims is the “fastest CPU in any smartphone,” plus a 5-core GPU with upgraded architecture for AAA gaming. Neural Accelerators are built into each GPU core, delivering up to 3x peak GPU compute over the previous generation. But to be honest, your current phone probably handles everything you throw at it just fine. For a flagship phone, this, like many other phones has just been performance for performance’s sake. The bigger story might be Apple’s custom chips. The N1 handles Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, while the new C1X cellular modem is supposedly 2x faster than the previous C1 while using 30% less energy.

Camera System

Getting into optics, you’re getting a single 48MP main camera with f/1.6 aperture and a large 1/1.56″ sensor with sensor-shift OIS. But sadly, there’s no ultra-wide camera here. Apple’s positions this as “the equivalent of four lenses” by offering 28mm and 35mm focal lengths from the main sensor, plus “optical-quality” 2x telephoto cropping. The front camera gets the same 18MP Center Stage sensor as the iPhone 17, with that square sensor design that lets you shoot landscape while holding the phone vertically. The auto-framing and dual-capture features are new nice touches as well.

Battery Life and Charging

Despite the ultra-thin profile, Apple’s claiming “fantastic all-day battery life” thanks to the 3149 mAh battery, efficient A19 Pro chip, and optimized internal architecture. The plateau design as talked earlier, genuinely seems to maximize battery space.

Charging gets interesting with multiple options: wired 20W MagSafe wireless, 20W Qi2 wireless, and even 4.5W reverse wired charging, supported by Type-C. The new MagSafe Battery accessory can also extend video playback to 40 hours when attached.

Software and Features

iOS 26 brings the “Liquid Glass” design language. And Apple Intelligence also gets Live Translation for real-time text and audio translation, plus updated visual intelligence features. The on-device foundation model works offline, whereas, new screening tools help filter calls and messages, and there’s Apple Games as well.

iPhone Air Price in Nepal and Availability

The pricing does feel a bit expensive now. Starting at USD 1999, the iPhone Air costs significantly more than the regular iPhone 17’s USD 799. The iPhone Air will likely start at no less than NPR 180,000 for the 256GB model when it reaches Nepal, with the 512GB variant pushing toward NPR 210,000. The 1TB option could hit NPR 240,000 or more.

iPhone Air Variant Price in Europe (Est.) Price in Nepal (Expected)
256GB USD 999 NPR 170,000
512GB USD 1,199 NPR 210,000
1TB USD 1,399 NPR 240,000
