TAPLEJUNG, APRIL 21

Four people died and two others were injured when a Bolero jeep caught fire on its way to the Pathibhara Temple from Phungling, in Taplejung, early morning.

The deceased have been identified as Aadhya Acharya, 16, and Sabina Acharya, 45, of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-10; Binod Paudel, 70, and Sarita Paudel, 69, of Bhadrapur-15; and the driver, Durga Bhattarai, 42, of Phungling-10.

Two others-Sabina Acharya and her 10-year-old son Bhavimay Acharya-sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

According to the District Police Office, the vehicle (Me 1 Cha 3011) caught fire suddenly at Sewaro Chowk in Phungling Municipality-10 around 5:00 am.

Preliminary investigation suggests the fire may have started after the vehicle came into contact with a live wire that had snapped from an electric pole.

A police team responded immediately, and the fire was brought under control.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said
