The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) extended its losing streak on Monday, falling nearly one percent as broad-based selling pressure pushed every sector into negative territory, with the Trading sector posting the steepest decline.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped 26.29 points (0.99 percent) on Monday to close at 2,627.11, as losses spread across all sectoral indices on the first trading day of the week.

The Sensitive Index, which tracks Class ‘A’ companies, declined 0.76 percent, while the Float Index slipped 0.95 percent.

Sector-wise, the Trading sector suffered the biggest loss, falling 3.15 percent, followed by Finance (1.25 percent), Manufacturing and Processing (1.17 percent) and Banking (1.06 percent). None of the remaining sectors recorded losses exceeding one percent.

Despite the overall market downturn, 34 companies posted gains, while 239 declined and four remained unchanged.

The day’s turnover stood at Rs 3.56 billion, with 7.54 million shares traded through 46,246 transactions involving 356 listed securities.

The total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.51 trillion, while the float market capitalisation reached Rs 1.52 trillion.

Among individual stocks, Snow Rivers Limited and Sanigad Hydro Limited emerged as the top gainers, each rising 14.99 percent, followed closely by Kalanga Hydro Limited, which climbed 14.98 percent. On the losing side, Three Star Hydropower Limited recorded the steepest decline, shedding 13.79 percent.
