140 domestic flights scheduled today as weather improves – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 5

Following a complete halt of domestic air services on Saturday due to poor visibility and heavy rainfall, a total of 140 domestic flights have been scheduled for Sunday from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), according to airport officials.

Saturday’s continuous rain and low visibility made it impossible to operate domestic flights safely.

This comes at a time when major highways across the country are closed or obstructed due to the heavy rain induced landslides and floods. This operation will bring much relief to the travellers stranded in kathmandu valley and across the country.

While domestic services were grounded on Saturday, some international flights operated with some minor delays while, some flights were diverted to nearby airports. Yesterday, few international flights like Indigo, Thai Air Asia, China Eastern, Qatar Airways, Air India, Nepal Airlines and Air Arabia were diverted due to the weather conditions in Kathmandu.
