Remittance inflows surge 39.1 pc to Rs 1.65 trillion in nine months – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper

Remittance inflows to Nepal rose sharply by 39.1 percent to Rs 1,659.41 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2025/26, according to the latest macroeconomic report of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
The growth marks a significant jump compared to a 10.2 percent increase recorded during the same period last fiscal year. In the review month between mid-March and mid-April (Chaitra), remittance inflows alone stood at Rs 209.75 billion, up from Rs 139.54 billion a year ago.
In US dollar terms, remittance inflows increased by 31.9 percent to USD 11.55 billion during the review period, compared to a 7.5 percent rise in the corresponding period last year.
Driven largely by remittance growth, net secondary income (net transfer) reached Rs 1,820.42 billion, up from Rs 1,303.12 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the number of Nepali workers obtaining first-time approval for foreign employment declined to 294,186 during the review period, down from 358,222 a year ago. However, approvals for renewed entry increased to 293,259, compared to 249,652 in the same period last year.
