Chinese tech giant Alibaba has launched its first self-developed smart classes, featuring its own Qwen AI assistance, the Quark AI Glasses S1. In this article, I will discuss smart glasses, their expected prices in Nepal, specifications, and other relevant details.

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Quark AI Glasses S1 features a simple and lightweight design, weighing approximately 51 grams. To enhance comfort during extended wear, Alibaba has also adopted a balanced 1:1 front-to-back weight distribution. The frame features a 7.5mm ultra-slim temple arm maintaining a sleek and modern look.

Talking about its display, the Quark AI Glasses S1 features a Micro LED light engine with a diffractive waveguide lens. The glasses can reach a peak brightness of 2,300 nits, allowing users to adjust the distance and height for a personalised fit. It supports prescription lenses ranging from 0 to 800degrees with a refractive index of 1.6, 1.67 or 1.74

Performance and Features

For the performance, Alibaba has opted for a dual-chip system, featuring the Snapdragon AR1 for core system processing and the BES BES2800 for audio functions. For connectivity, it features Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6 support.

Regarding its features, it is equipped with real-time translation, object recognition, POV camera recording, and voice interaction. We also get five microphones, including a bone-conduction mic and dual 10mm speakers. These glasses come with Qwen assistance, similar to Google Gemini, but it’s based on Alibaba’s proprietary Qwen large language model, which aims to help users seamlessly access AI assistance throughout the day.

Camera and battery

This guy even comes with a POV-recording option, featuring a 12MP Sony IMX681 sensor with a 109-degree field of view. We can capture 3K footage at 30fps, and for photos, it has a resolution of 4032 x 3024.

Now for the batteries, this comes with swappable batteries, which are located in the temple arms. It features a 280 mAh battery, and Alibaba provides three charging options: a MiniBag dock with a 700 mAh capacity, a 2500 mAh charging case, and a USB-C fast-charging clip that delivers 50% power in 10 minutes. For the backup, we can expect 45 minutes of calling, 2.5 hours of music playback, 20 minutes of navigation, and 15 short video recordings. The glasses deliver up to 7 hours of active use and 25 hours of standby time.
