NEPSE gains 27 points on first trading day of week – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper
KATHMANDU, MAY 25
The Nepal Stock Exchange index rose by 27.85 points or one percent on Monday, the first trading day of the week, to close at 2,786.35 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of class ‘A’ companies, increased by 0.81 percent, while the float index gained 0.98 percent.
Sector-wise, the market remained largely positive, with only the mutual fund group declining by 0.20 percent.
Among the gainers, the hydropower sector led with a 1.50 percent rise, followed by the manufacturing and processing sector at 1.35 percent, the others group at 1.23 percent and hotels and tourism at 1.02 percent.
The market recorded a daily turnover of Rs 5.98 billion through the trading of 14.54 million units of shares of 342 companies in 75,856 transactions.
By the close of trading, total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.752 trillion.
Among individual stocks, 235 companies advanced, 28 declined and seven remained unchanged. Bungal Hydro Limited posted the highest loss of the day, falling 10.32 percent.
