Nepal Sambat to appear on banknotes from this year – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper

The government has decided to include the Nepal Sambat date on Nepali banknotes starting this year, according to the Shankhadhar Sakhwa Pratishthan, Bhaktapur.
The formal announcement will be made during a wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of national luminary Shankhadhar Sakhwa on October 22 (Wednesday), to be attended by Prime Minister Sushila Karki, said Pratishthan Chairman Gyanram Shrestha.
He added that the decision reflects Nepal Sambat’s significance as “a calendar for all Nepalis, not only the Newar community.” Preparations for the event have been completed, said former chairman Shyam Krishna Manandhar.
