KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 1

Nepal welcomed 88,248 international visitors in September 2026, marking a 12.1 percent increase compared with the 78,711 arrivals recorded in September 2025, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

The latest figures indicate continued growth in international tourism as Nepal enters its peak autumn travel season.

India remained Nepal’s largest tourist-generating market, contributing 17,425 visitors, which accounted for 19.75 percent of total arrivals during the month.

China ranked second with 11,212 visitors (12.71 percent), followed by the United States with 8,299 visitors (9.40 percent).

Other major source markets included: Sri Lanka: 7,108 visitors (8.05%), and Australia: 4,842 visitors (5.49%).

According to NTB data, South Asia accounted for the largest share of international arrivals at 34.1 percent, reflecting strong regional travel demand.

Visitors from the Americas accounted for 11.5 percent, Oceania 6.1 percent, the Middle East 3 percent, Africa 0.5 percent and other markets 5.2 percent of total arrivals.
