Mercedes-AMG officially unveils the radical GT XX Concept, a high-performance electric vehicle (EV) designed specifically to dethrone the reigning champions like the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Porsche Taycan. This new Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept doesn’t just aim to compete; it promises to completely rewrite the rulebook for electric performance cars, establishing itself as the ultimate Tesla Killer.

The concept delivers a monstrous combined output of 1,360 horsepower, a figure that easily surpasses both the Model S Plaid (1,020 hp) and the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (1,034 hp). AMG achieves this extreme power with an advanced three-motor powertrain: one motor drives the front axle, and two power the rear wheels. This sophisticated system is revolutionary. Each motor utilizes its own automatic transmission—a spur-gear unit up front and two dedicated planetary gearsets in the rear—creating an architecture that allows a seamless transition between all-wheel drive and pure rear-wheel drive. This complex setup ensures precise torque distribution, maximizing both grip and efficiency in every driving condition.

More impressively, it recently completed a world-record endurance feat, covering over 24,901 miles non-stop in 24 hours at the Nardo test track, maintaining speeds up to 186 mph (300 km/h). This record-breaking endurance highlights the vehicle’s world-class engineering and inherent efficiency.

Mercedes-AMG built the car on an advanced 800-Volt architecture with highly efficient liquid battery cooling. Drivers will benefit immensely from truly ultra-fast charging speeds. The car can regain 249 miles (400 km) of range in approximately five minutes, utilizing a standard CCS cable. Charging peaks can briefly exceed 1.0 MW, with an average rate remaining over 850 kW. Furthermore, its cutting-edge design, featuring a highly aerodynamic body, achieves an incredibly low drag coefficient of 0.198.

The production variant, which is anticipated to debut around mid-2026, targets wealthy performance enthusiasts. Experts project the price point will place this premium “super EV” in the region of the highest-end Porsche Taycan models, surpassing $230,000.
