Honda WN7 Electric Motorcycle Unveiled

Honda is finally embracing the high-voltage revolution, moving past scooters and compliance models with a legitimate, full-size electric motorcycle. Unveiled at EICMA 2025, the new Honda WN7 naked street bike signals a serious commitment to the electric future, falling directly into the company’s “FUN” category for commuters and light touring. Its development concept? “Be the Wind.”

This isn’t just an electrified version of an existing bike; it’s a machine built from the ground up to maximize the advantages of EV technology.

Engineering Revolution: The Frameless Chassis

The WN7’s most innovative feature is its frameless chassis. Eliminating the traditional frame entirely, Honda engineered the rigid, aluminum 9.3 kWh battery case to act as the motorcycle’s central structural backbone. Both the front steering head and the rear swingarm pivot connect directly to this core power unit. This clever design drastically cuts weight and perfectly centralizes the mass, ensuring the agile, predictable handling Honda riders expect.

Performance: Torque That Bites

While its 50 kW (67 hp) peak output rivals a 600cc internal combustion engine (ICE) bike for straight-line acceleration, the electric torque is the real story. The WN7 delivers a massive 100 Nm of torque, providing instant, rapid acceleration that actually competes with liter-class ICE superbikes right off the line.

The power flows through a new liquid-cooled motor with an integrated inverter and is cleanly transferred to the rear wheel via a newly designed gearbox and a smooth belt-drive system. The result is a ride that is not only powerful but also remarkably quiet, letting the rider truly experience the environment—a core tenet of the “Be the Wind” philosophy.

Practicality and Design

The fixed 9.3 kWh battery offers a practical 140 km (87 miles) range under WMTC standards. More importantly for daily use, it supports CCS2 fast charging, allowing a crucial 20% to 80% recharge in just 30 minutes. Rider features like customizable regenerative braking and a slow-speed walk mode further enhance its usability in urban environments.

Visually, the bike introduces the future face of Honda’s electric lineup: a sharp silhouette with a distinctive horizontal LED light bar. The exclusive EV color scheme—a black body accented with striking golden mechanical components—makes the WN7 impossible to ignore.

Produced in Japan, the WN7 is slated for rollout in regions leading the charge in vehicle electrification. Although specific pricing remains unannounced, the WN7 has set a high new standard for what a mainstream electric motorcycle can be.
