KATHMANDU, JUNE 21

Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) has celebrated its 35th anniversary by announcing that it has sold more than 10 million vehicles globally and expanded its footprint to over 170 countries and regions.

The company said its international journey, which began with its first export shipment to the Middle East, has progressively expanded across Europe, Australia, South Africa, Eurasia, Thailand, Germany, Brazil and Mexico. GWM stated that its global growth strategy has focused on local manufacturing, local operations and integrated supply chains.

The automaker’s portfolio comprises five major brands, HAVAL, WEY, TANK, ORA and POER, targeting different customer segments worldwide. GWM said cumulative sales of its HAVAL SUVs have surpassed five million units.

The company has also been investing in new-energy and intelligent mobility technologies, including its Hi4 hybrid technology, while expanding overseas manufacturing facilities such as its plant in Brazil.

GWM’s electric vehicle brand ORA, known for its retro-inspired design, has gained international recognition and received several global design awards, according to the company.

As part of its expansion in South Asia, GWM has officially entered the Nepali market through VG Impex Pvt. Ltd., its authorised importer in Nepal. The company said it plans to introduce a new electric SUV in the country soon, featuring advanced electric vehicle technology, intelligent features and safety systems tailored to local market requirements.

GWM said its latest brand mission, “Tech to Enjoy Every Journey,” reflects its commitment to delivering technology-driven, sustainable and customer-focused mobility solutions globally. The company expects its entry into Nepal and the upcoming EV launch to contribute to the country’s evolving electric mobility landscape.
