The government has reduced customs tariff slabs from 11 to seven through the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84.

Presenting the annual budget in Parliament today, Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle said customs duties on industrial raw materials have been lowered by one slab.

According to the government, customs rates on 273 items have been reduced, while excise duty on 360 items has been scrapped.

The budget has also revised the existing tax structure applied to more than 1,112 goods.

The government has further integrated infrastructure tax and road maintenance fees into a unified green tax system as part of broader tax reforms.
