Global IME Bank Limited to hold its 20th AGM today – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper
KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 1
Global IME Bank Limited is set to hold its 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 2, marking two decades of operations during which the bank has expanded its financial base, customer reach, nationwide service network and digital banking capabilities.
The bank has proposed a 10% dividend for shareholders for fiscal year 2025/26 (FY 2082/83), comprising 6% cash dividend, including applicable taxes, and 4% bonus shares. The proposed dividend is subject to approval from Nepal Rastra Bank and endorsement by the upcoming AGM.
The proposed distribution comes as the bank reports continued growth across key financial indicators. By the end of FY 2082/83, Global IME Bank’s total deposits had reached approximately NPR 700.44 billion, while total loans stood at around NPR 476.84 billion. Its paid-up capital reached approximately NPR 38.116 billion.
During the fiscal year, the bank reported approximately NPR 6.036 billion in net profit, representing a 15.90% increase compared with the previous fiscal year. Deposits grew by 21.80%, while loan investments increased by 8.22%, reflecting continued expansion in the bank’s core banking business.
Two decades of expansion
Global IME Bank’s growth over the past two decades has been marked by expansion in capital, business operations, technology and physical access to banking services.
The bank was established in 2007 as an ‘A’ class commercial bank with an initial paid-up capital of NPR 1 billion. Since then, its capital base has expanded substantially, while its operations have grown into a nationwide banking network.
Global IME Bank became the first private-sector commercial bank in Nepal to establish a branch network across all 77 districts. The bank has continued to expand its service infrastructure through branches, ATMs, branchless banking outlets, extension and revenue collection counters and overseas representative offices.
The bank’s service network enables customers across the country to access conventional banking as well as digital and alternative banking channels. Its product portfolio includes personal and corporate banking, savings and deposits, lending, remittance, cards and digital banking services.
Focus on shareholder value
Shareholder returns have remained an important component of the bank’s growth strategy. Since its establishment, Global IME Bank has distributed returns through both cash dividends and bonus shares.
According to the bank, shareholders have so far received cumulative cash and bonus-share dividends equivalent to approximately NPR 236.12 per share. Of this amount, approximately NPR 79.20 per share has been distributed through cash dividends, while bonus shares equivalent to approximately NPR 156.92 per share have been distributed.
If the proposed 10% dividend is approved, the 4% bonus-share issue would raise the bank’s paid-up capital to approximately NPR 39.64 billion.
The bank has identified “Sustainable Return to Investors” as a key strategic pillar, with an emphasis on maintaining a balance between capital strength, business expansion, loan quality, risk management and long-term shareholder returns.
Strengthening international and diaspora banking
Global IME Bank has also been expanding its services beyond Nepal’s domestic banking market, particularly for Nepali citizens living and working abroad.
In March 2026, the bank launched its Non-Resident and Overseas Banking Division, described by the bank as Nepal’s first dedicated full-service division for Nepalis residing abroad. The division brings together banking services including account opening, credit processing, transaction banking, capital market and portfolio-related services through a single service channel.
The bank also facilitates remittance inflows from a wide range of countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, India and Jordan.
Recognition and the road ahead
The bank’s expansion has been accompanied by recognition from national and international institutions. Global IME Bank has received the Global Finance Best Bank Award in 2024 and 2025, as well as the Euromoney Award for Excellence in 2022, 2024 and 2025. It was also recognised as Nepal’s Best Bank by Euromoney in 2025.
As it enters its third decade, the bank is positioning its strengthened capital base, growing customer network, digital capabilities and international reach as foundations for its next phase of growth.
The bank has indicated that its future strategy will focus on expanding business while maintaining financial discipline, strengthening risk management and continuing to create sustainable value for shareholders and customers.
The 20th AGM will provide shareholders with an opportunity to review the bank’s performance over the past fiscal year and consider the proposed dividend and other agenda items as Global IME Bank begins its next chapter after two decades in Nepal’s banking sector.
