KATHMANDU, JUNE 11

Ticket booking has opened for direct daily flights between Pokhara International Airport and Dubai, marking the airport’s first regular international commercial air service since its inauguration three years ago.

Dubai-based airline Flydubai is set to begin daily operations on September 23, offering a major boost to tourism and international connectivity in Pokhara.

Tourism entrepreneurs have welcomed the development, saying enhanced air access will create new opportunities for tourism promotion, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.

Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhan Raj Acharya described the direct service as a significant milestone for the city’s international recognition, stating that it would help promote tourism, attract investment and reduce air traffic concentration in Kathmandu.

Hotel Association Nepal central member Bharat Parajuli said discussions with the UAE Ambassador regarding tourism cooperation and direct flights had been positive, expressing confidence that the service would strengthen bilateral ties and economic activities.

Until now, the airport had mainly handled charter flights to countries such as China and Bhutan, along with emergency medical flights to India.

Tickets for the Pokhara-Dubai route are available through Flydubai’s official website and authorised travel agencies.
