KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 19

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has instructed all domestic airlines to offer significant airfare discounts for elderly and persons with disabilities, effective immediately.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by CAAN Director General at the authority’s head office today, in the presence of representatives from the Airline Operators Association of Nepal and domestic airline companies.

According to the new provision, senior citizens aged 70 and above will receive a 50 percent discount, those aged 75 and above will get a 70 percent discount, and passengers aged 80 and above will enjoy an 80 percent discount on all domestic sectors.

Similarly, persons with disabilities will be eligible for a minimum 50 percent discount on airfares.

CAAN has directed all domestic carriers to enforce these concessions from today, aiming to make air travel more accessible and inclusive for senior citizens and people with disabilities.
