Sikkim govt supports Nepathya’s Gangtok concert – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper
KATHMANDU:
Nepal’s popular folk-rock band Nepathya has received state-level backing for its upcoming concert in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, India after announcing the show on its website.
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Gole) unveiled the band’s official concert tee-shirt and ticket during a programme held in Gangtok on August 15 to mark India’s 80th Republic Day, informed a press release issued by Nepalaya.
The tee-shirt has been specially designed for the Sikkim concert, which is scheduled for October 31.
This will be Nepathya’s fourth performance in Sikkim. The first was held indoors following the band’s reunion, while the next two were staged outdoors – in Pakyong, at the ground in front of St Xavier’s School, and in Ravangla, on the banks of Cho Jo Lake. This year’s concert, at Gangtok’s Paljor Stadium, is expected to be the grandest yet, the release added.
Organisers Positive Vibes Entertainment Network said the concert aims to celebrate the energy and creativity of Sikkim’s youth while promoting the state’s culture and natural beauty.
Event coordinator Tenzing Dorjee thanked the chief minister for his support and said the band looked forward to a grand welcome, as mentioned in the release. Nepathya has also announced concerts in Itahari on November 4 and is preparing for a show in Kirtipur, besides a planned tour of South Korea later this year, the release further shared.
The press statement quoted band leader Amrit Gurung as saying that the group has long enjoyed warm receptions from audiences across the Sikkim-Darjeeling region.
Tickets are available through Nepathya’s official website.
