KATHMANDU, JULY 20

Zonta Club Kathmandu has received the prestigious Zonta Excellence in Service and Advocacy Award 2024–2026 at the 67th Zonta International Convention held in Vancouver, Canada, from July 11 to 14.

The award recognises the club’s efforts to strengthen collective action against both offline and online violence targeting women and girls. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with various units of Nepal Police, including the District Police Range Kathmandu, District Police Lalitpur, Satdobato Police Circle, the Cyber Bureau, and a network of women legal professionals.

According to the club, only six Zonta clubs worldwide are selected for the honour during each biennium from among more than 1,100 clubs operating under Zonta International, making it one of the organisation’s highest recognitions for service and advocacy.

Zonta Club Kathmandu President for the 2024–2026 term, Bina Rana, received the award on behalf of the club during the convention.

A 10-member delegation from Nepal participated in this year’s international convention.

Founded in 1919, Zonta International is a global organisation of professionals working to advance the rights, education, health and leadership of women and girls worldwide. The award highlights Nepal’s growing contribution to international efforts aimed at combating gender-based violence and promoting women’s empowerment.
