Nepal made its debut at the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) International Symposium 2026, with Nepali academic and tourism researcher Dr Sushil Awale delivering a presentation on Nepal’s tourism promotion strategies at the prestigious regional forum held in Sapporo, Japan.
According to the Nepalese Marketing Association (NMA), Dr Awale, Head of the Marketing Department at Tribhuvan University and former secretary of the association, presented a masterclass on the “Effectiveness of Tourism Promotion in Nepal” during the symposium’s International Academic Session on May 28.
The symposium, themed “Empathy, Creativity, and Technology: Redefining Marketing from Asia to the World,” brought together marketing leaders and corporate visionaries from 19 countries. Dr Awale was among nine speakers selected from across Asia and became the first official representative from Nepal to serve as a featured speaker at the AMF symposium.
His presentation highlighted Nepal’s tourism promotion practices, strategic academic insights and locally developed research frameworks rooted in Tribhuvan University’s Central Department of Management. The session also explored the role of tourism in economic development and cross-border collaboration.
The NMA said Dr Awale’s participation has helped place Nepal’s tourism sector and academic expertise on a broader international platform and underscored the country’s growing contribution to regional marketing discourse.
Speaking after the event, Dr Awale described the participation as a collective achievement for Nepal’s marketing and business community, saying that Nepal is increasingly emerging as an active contributor to Asia’s marketing future.
The symposium marked the first in-person gathering of the Asia Marketing Federation in Japan in five years and was regarded as an important platform for strengthening multinational collaboration and showcasing Nepal’s tourism potential to international stakeholders.
