NEPSE drops 25.81 points; turnover nears Rs 5 billion – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper

KATHMANDU, APRIL 29

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 25.81 points, or 0.93 percent, on Wednesday to close at 2,744.45 points.

The sensitive index, which tracks Class ‘A’ stocks, fell by 0.65 percent, while the float index, measuring actively traded shares, dropped by 0.92 percent.

Sector-wise, only three groups-development banks (0.14%), mutual funds (0.01%) and trading (1.09%)-posted gains, while all other sectors ended in the red. The manufacturing and processing sector recorded the highest loss of 2.24 percent, followed by hotels and tourism (1.64%), hydropower (1.45%) and non-life insurance (1.11%).

The market recorded a turnover of Rs 4.98 billion through the trading of 12.13 million shares of 351 companies in 104,005 transactions. Total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.68 trillion.

In individual stock performance, 30 scrips advanced, while 235 declined and four remained unchanged. KBL Debenture 2090 posted the highest loss of 11.46 percent, while Corporate Development Bank Limited recorded the highest gain of 13.81 percent.
