It was a big event for Vivo yesterday, as the Chinese company unveiled the Vivo Pad 5e alongside several other devices. The Pad 5e continues Vivo’s recent push into the midrange tablet segment and expands on the existing Pad 5 series that debuted some time ago. Now, let’s jump into this article, where I’ll discuss everything about the latest Vivo Pad 5e, including its specifications and expected price in Nepal.

Vivo Pad 5e Overview

Design and Display

As mentioned above, the Vivo Pad 5e is a more affordable entry in Vivo’s flagship Pad 5 series. But like the regular Pad 5, it also has a premium aluminum unibody design and a fairly slim build. Measuring just 6.6 mm in thickness. Available in either gray, purple, or blue colorways, the Vivo Pad 5e is pretty heavy at around 584 grams, though.

As for the display, the Pad 5e brings a 12.1-inch LCD panel with a sharp 2.8K resolution, a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, and 900 nits of peak brightness. Vivo also mentions that this panel has impressive color accuracy with ∆E＜1 and that it supports HDR10. It even has DC dimming to reduce flickering for a comfortable viewing experience.

On top of all this, Vivo Pad 5e can be configured with “Soft Light Edition” as well, which adds a special anti-glare layer that cuts down up to 98% reflection in bright environments.

Performance and Hardware

At its core, the Vivo Pad 5e features the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Mind you that the base 128GB model has UFS 3.1 storage versus a faster UFS 4.1 standard on the other two options.

Anyway, 8s Gen 3 is a perfectly powerful midrange chipset despite falling a bit short of Dimensity 9300+ on the regular Vivo Pad 5. And it should handle everything from casual multitasking to heavy gaming just fine.

The tablet runs Android 15 with OriginOS 5 for the Pad. Instead of the newly announced OriginOS 6. Like the company’s earlier tablets, the Vivo Pad 5e supports cross-device multi-screen collaboration with both Windows and macOS. You can control your PC remotely through the tablet or manage files directly via Portable File Station. You also get CAJViewer for reading academic papers, PC-level WPS Office for editing, and Atom Notes, which syncs handwritten notes with your Vivo smartphone.

Cameras and others

Well, the cameras on this tablet are expectedly not that great. With an 8MP sensor on the back and a 5MP unit up front for video calls and selfies. But letting that aside, Vivo has included a quad-speaker setup with USB Type-C audio support on the Pad 5e. Similarly, you get options that include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and a USB Type-C port for connectivity

Battery and Accessories

The Pad 5e packs a 10,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging. Vivo says it’s tuned for long sessions of streaming, drawing, or document work. The Pad 5e supports the Vivo Pencil 3 for sketching or writing, and also the Smart Touch Keyboard 5 that magnetically attaches for a laptop-like typing experience.

In China, the Vivo Pad 5e’s 8/128GB model goes for CNY 1,999 (~USD 280 / INR 24,799) for the regular model. While the “Soft Light Edition” fetches CNY 2,199 (~USD 308 / INR 27,199). It’s unlikely that this tablet ever makes its way to Nepal officially, but in case it does, we expect the price of the Vivo Pad 5e to start at around NPR 47,499.
