Samsung Galaxy XR has launched with support for all android apps

Just after the launch of Apple’s Vision Pro, Samsung has also joined the headset market with their own Galaxy XR headset. This new mixed reality headset produced in collaboration with both Google and Qualcomm is the very first Android XR headset. Let’s dive into what this device has to offer, along with a few comparisons with Apple’s headset and also the Samsung Galaxy XR price in Nepal.
Samsung Galaxy XR, 1st Android XR Headset Overview
Build and Design
The headset design is said to distribute pressure evenly at the front and back and make it more comfortable. We can notice both the forehead and rear cushion. The front cushion can adapt to your face shape and provide you with a breathable fit. While the back comes with a fit dial that helps you adjust it to your needs and find the best fit for you. The side band is said to ensure protection around the pressure-sensitive areas while maintaining comfort.
It comes in a single “Silver Shadow” color as seen in the below picture.

The Samsung Galaxy XR headset is very distinguishable from the Vision Pro, which now consists of an extra knit band. The Galaxy XR weighs just around 545 grams, which is very much lighter than Apple’s Vision Pro, which weighs around 750–800 grams. This is without the external battery included; including the extra 302 grams bumps it to around 850 grams overall. Do note that this is without the light shield or the optional cushion size adjusters.
Display and Battery
The headset gets a 27 million pixel micro-OLED display with a 95% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. However, it lacks a higher refresh rate than the Vision Pro, with only options for 60 Hz, 72 Hz, and 90 Hz. The 90 Hz is only achieved upon service request as well, and the default refresh rate is just 72 Hz. But Samsung Galaxy XR can adjust the interpupillary distance (54–70 mm) and also supports separately purchasable optical inserts for vision correction. The removable light shield blocks the light, isolating you from the outside world and enhancing your experience. While the virtual display covers 109° horizontally and 100° vertically.

Overall the device is able to last up to 2 hours of casual use. While for video watching on YouTube, it can go up to 2.5 hours. You are also able to use the Galaxy XR headset while charging the battery.
Snapdragon XR chip
Like mentioned earlier, this headset came in collaboration with Qualcomm and Google. Hence, the chip that has been used was made by Qualcomm. The Samsung Galaxy XR headset uses the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, an upgrade from the regular XR2 Gen 2. This chip comes with 15% higher GPU and 20% higher CPU max frequency and even supports 12 ms full-color video passthrough. For storage, it gets 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Android XR
The second collaboration with Google gives the Android XR, a new operating system for next-generation headsets and glasses. It is an open platform that supports all the Android apps. The reason why it is open is because developers can use OpenXR, WebXR, and Unity to create new ideas that can be used in this and coming Android XR devices.

The Samsung Galaxy XR also tastes Google’s Gemini, which perceives your surroundings, giving the user new ways to explore the device and chat with the AI assistant. With this the bot is able to better understand what you’re seeing and doing and help accordingly.
Other than that, you can explore Google Maps in 3D view or watch videos in 180 and 360 degrees. It also can convert your entire existing library of 2D photos and videos into 3D with the help of Google Photos. And the whole workspace can be organized with what you need at any size.
