NEPSE posts marginal gain, turnover drops sharply – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index edged up by 5.82 points, or 0.20 percent, on Thursday to close at 2,782.18 points, recovering slightly after a sharp decline in the previous session.
The benchmark index had dropped by over 74 points on Wednesday.
Despite the modest gain, the sensitive index declined by 0.08 percent, while the float index remained unchanged.
Sectoral performance was mixed, with seven sectors posting gains and six recording losses. Among the gainers, the trading sector rose by 2.53 percent, followed by the manufacturing and processing sector, which increased by 1.77 percent.
However, market activity weakened significantly. Daily turnover fell to Rs 8.81 billion from the trading of 21.31 million shares of 328 companies in 103,225 transactions. This marks a sharp decline from Wednesday’s turnover of Rs 12.10 billion.
By the end of the session, total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.73 trillion.
In terms of individual stock performance, 98 companies advanced, 158 declined, and 12 remained unchanged.
Among top gainers, Reliance Spinning Mills Limited, Ridge Line Energy Limited and Suryakunda Hydro Electric Limited hit the positive circuit limit of 10 percent.
