Company targets 170 additional sites nationwide within two months
KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 29
Ncell Axiata Limited has brought 20 new towers into operation within just 10 days, expanding high-speed mobile broadband and improved voice services across several provinces.
According to the company, the new towers have been installed primarily in Madhesh Province, along with Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, as part of Ncell’s ongoing efforts to enhance network quality and service reach.
In Madhesh Province alone, 13 towers have been activated across Bara, Parsa, Saptari, Dhanusha, Sarlahi, and Rautahat districts. Similarly, six towers have been brought into operation in Sunsari and Morang of Koshi Province, and one tower in Hetauda (Makawanpur) of Bagmati Province, according to the press release issued by the company stated.
The company accelerated its rollout following the resumption of facilitation by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), completing the installations even during the festive season.
“We are expanding and enhancing our 4G network in line with our commitment to strengthen digital connectivity across Nepal… Within the next two days, we plan to bring 10 more towers on air,” said Upanga Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Ncell.
Despite past restrictions on importing new equipment, Ncell said it continued to expand its coverage by installing over 40 towers using existing and spare resources.
Under its ongoing 4G expansion and enhancement plan, the telecom company aims to add more than 170 new towers across all provinces in the coming two months – a move expected to significantly improve network access and service quality nationwide.
Launched in May 2017, Ncell’s 4G service now reaches all 77 districts and provides coverage to over 95 percent of Nepal’s population, making it one of the country’s most extensive mobile broadband networks
