The domestic market for precious metals continued its downward trend on Tuesday, with gold prices falling by Rs 2,900 per tola and silver prices also declining.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold was traded at Rs 237,000 per tola, down from Rs 239,900 on Monday. Silver also fell by Rs 60 per tola, closing at Rs 2,920, compared to Rs 2,980 on Monday.

The decline reflects movements in the international precious metals market following the reopening of the domestic market after the Tihar festival closure. The metals had reached a record high of Rs 253,500 per tola on Kartik 3 before the market shutdown.

The drop is attributed to the decline in the price of the precious metals in the global market which trends are influencing domestic prices once trading resumed.
