KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 27
The price of gold continued its downward trend in the domestic market on Monday, dropping by Rs 2,000 per tola. With this latest fall, fine gold is being traded at Rs 239,900 per tola, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association.
The yellow metal has been declining in Nepal in line with the fall in international gold prices in recent days. However, the domestic market only reflected the drop after reopening on Sunday following the Tihar festival break from Kartik 3 to Kartik 8.
When trading resumed on Sunday, the price had already plunged by Rs 11,600 per tola, closing at Rs 241,900 per tola. The downward trend has continued into Monday.
Similarly, silver prices also followed the same trajectory, falling by Rs 35 per tola today to trade at Rs 2,980 per tola, down from Rs 3,015 per tola on Sunday. Since the market reopened after the Tihar holidays, silver has dropped by a total of Rs 265 per tola.
