Gold price soars to record Rs 258,000 per tola in domestic market – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper
KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 17
Gold price continued its record-breaking rally in the domestic market on Friday, surging by Rs 7,100 per tola to reach an all-time high of Rs 258,000 per tola.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold was traded at Rs 250,900 per tola on Thursday, marking a staggering weekly gain of Rs 20,000 per tola. Experts attribute the rapid rise to global economic uncertainty, and stronger international gold prices.
Silver also followed the upward trend, rising by Rs 75 per tola to trade at Rs 3,350 per tola, up from Rs 3,275 on Thursday. The white metal has gained Rs 395 per tola this week alone, setting new records alongside gold.
With the yellow metal’s sharp climb, jewelers say retail demand has slowed, while investors continue to view gold as a safe haven amid inflationary pressures and currency volatility.
