KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 23
Tenzing Sherpa won Nepal’s first medal at the 20th Asian Games in Japan, securing bronze in the men’s over-84kg kumite karate event on Wednesday.
Sherpa defeated Laos’ Vathana 9-1 at Toyohashi Gymnasium to claim the bronze medal.
He had earlier lost 5-0 to Iran’s Muhammad Nemati in the semifinal.
The medal is Sherpa’s first at the Asian Games, where he has competed in different categories
