GAIGHAT, SEPTEMBER 3

Hopes of regular operations at Udayapur Cement Industry have risen after the government began the process of appointing a new general manager through open competition.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies published a notice in Gorkhapatra on Wednesday inviting applications for the vacant post, marking a fresh step towards strengthening the leadership of the state-owned cement factory.

Officials said the ministry had earlier formed a committee to oversee the appointment, which has now initiated the recruitment process. The move has raised expectations among local residents and former employees that the industry could resume regular operations.

Former employee Prathamlal Chaudhary said the appointment process had renewed hopes that the factory would operate regularly. Acting General Manager Baidyanath Jha added that the government had been making internal preparations to restart operations, and that the appointment of a permanent general manager through open competition had further strengthened expectations.

Jha expressed confidence that the industry would regain its previous momentum once new leadership was in place.

The government’s latest move comes as preparations are under way to bring the industry back into regular operation.
