Nepal has secured its first win in the ICC Women’s Twenty20 Challenge Trophy, defeating Italy by 50 runs in a match played at the Rwanda Cricket Stadium in Rwanda today.
Chasing a target of 113 runs set by Nepal, Italy were bowled out for 62 runs in 18.4 overs. Only two Italian batters managed to reach double figures, with Chathurika Mahamalage scoring 22 runs and Pasindi Kanankege contributing 12 runs.
For Nepal, Rubina Chhetri led the bowling attack with four wickets, while Kabita Kunwar claimed two wickets. Manisha Upadhyaya, Riya Sharma, and Rachana Chaudhary picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, Nepal posted 112 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs after electing to bat first. Vice-captain Pooja Mahato top-scored with 48 runs, while Samjhana Khadka contributed 16 runs, Bindu Rawal scored 15, and captain Indu Verma added 10 runs.
For Italy, Emilia Bartram took three wickets.
Nepal had earlier suffered a 44-run defeat against the United States of America in their opening match on Saturday.
