8K Expedition Team summits Himlung Himal – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper
KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 28
The 8K Autumn 2025 Himlung Expedition Team successfully reached the summit of Himlung Himal (7,126m) on 27 October, the expedition company confirmed. The team, composed of international and Nepali climbers, completed the ascent after weeks of high-altitude climbing and acclimatization in the central Himalayas, according to Lakpa Sherpa, Managing Director of 8K Expedition.
The summiteers include Cristian Dumitri Gheorghe (Romania), Ann Kathrin Bohmer (Germany), Amol Raghunath (India), and Nepali climbers Mingma Dorchee Sherpa, Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Milan Rai, Pasang Sherpa, and Vision Tamang. Pasang Sherpa also served as the high-altitude videographer and drone pilot for the expedition.
“This successful summit is the result of meticulous planning, teamwork, and high-altitude experience,” Sherpa said while adding that “Himlung Himal offers one of the finest training grounds for climbers aiming for 8,000-meter peaks such as Mount Everest, and this achievement reflects both endurance and expertise.”
With the Government of Nepal recently introduced new prerequisites for climbers seeking permits for Mount Everest and other 8,000-meter peaks including all applicants required to have successfully summited a peak above 7,000 meters in Nepal. Himlung Himal, with its challenging yet technically manageable terrain, is increasingly recognized as an ideal preparatory peak for climbers aiming to meet the government’s new requirements.
Mount Himlung Himal, located in the Himalayan region of central Nepal, offers panoramic views of major peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga, making it both a challenging and scenic destination for climbers preparing for higher Himalayan ascents.
